In 1540, Francisco Vasquez de Coronado entered what is now Arizona with the largest expedition ever gathered. Coronado set out from Compostela in mid-1540 with nearly 400 Spaniards, 2,000 Mexican Indian allies, four Franciscan monks, and many family members, servants and slaves who were brave enough to explore the hostile region. He searched for Cibola, one of the legendary "Cities of Gold" that was rumored to be exist in the Southwest.

But truly he and all others came for "Glory, God, and Gold".

He found all three, along with a healthy dose of fear and death, deep in the Superstition Mountain range. His search for Cibola was not successful and encounters with the hostile land and far more dangerous native Americans in the area, resulted in the loss of nearly all of his expedition.

In honor of the brave explorers who arrived in the western territories seeking fame and fortune, we've combined activated charcoal and gold-ore shaped bits of gold-mica covered soap into an exfoliating mine of good skincare.

This is a rough (exfoliating) soap with an incredible desert scent containing rustic notes of Vetiver, Sandalwood, Bourbon Vanilla, Amber, Labdanum and the sweet Tonka Bean and that is reminiscent of miners and explorers who explored this region on their quests.
