Chalchihuitl | Artisan Soap
“There is a legend that says Native Americans danced and rejoiced when winter rains arrived. Their tears of joy mixed with the rain and seeped into Mother Earth to become, "Fallen Sky" stone called Turquoise.
Turquoise has been valued for years among many cultures. Many believe that the stone has spiritual qualities that represents everything from blessing and good fortune to protection and a long life.
So why call it Chalchihuitl?
Chalchihuitl is home to Mt. Chalchihuitl, the largest known turquoise mine in North America. Turquoise artifacts have been found in this location dating from 1000 AD. Ancient Native American miners excavated thousands of tons of turquoise and waste rock before the Spanish arrived in the 16th century.
In our soap, we added bits of turquoise colored soap into a neutral, sandy base to mimic Mt.Chalchihuitl.
This soap is filled with skin-loving oils that are naturally high in vitamins A and E, and rich in oleic and linoleic fatty acids. This helps your skin retain moisture, keeping it soft all day long.
We created this soap in a base of goat's milk with a touch of raw honey, and added colloidal oatmeal and pure Shea butter to soothe the most sensitive skin.
The fragrance is a mild oatmeal and honey blended with lychee red tea that will lull you into a deep state of relaxation. It's the perfect soap for our dry desert winters.
